Airén ist eine spanische Weißweinsorte, die für ihre hohe Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen Hitze und Trockenheit bekannt ist. Die Trauben sind groß, rund und haben eine dünne Schale.
Airén wird fast ausschließlich in Spanien angebaut, insbesondere in den Regionen La Mancha und Andalusien. Sie ist eine der am häufigsten angebauten Rebsorten der Welt.
Charakteristische Airén-Weine sind oft leicht, frisch und haben eine hohe Säure. Sie weisen Aromen von Zitrusfrüchten und grünem Apfel auf. Aufgrund ihrer neutralen Aromatik wird die Rebsorte häufig in Verschnitten verwendet und ist ideal für die Herstellung von Branntweinen.
